Mysuru, Jun 21 (PTI) The Mysuru District Administration, Department of Ayush, and Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Mysuru, jointly organised the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations in front of the historic Mysore Palace on Saturday.
The event was led by Mysore MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar and District Minister H C Mahadevappa.
Speaking to PTI, Wadiyar said, "It is a matter of pride to continue to host the event here at the Mysore Palace. Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi had conducted the 9th Yoga Day here in Mysore Palace in 2023 and we continue to uphold that tradition." The event witnessed a massive turnout, as thousands gathered in front of the iconic heritage site to take part in the early morning yoga session. The celebration is among the key national-level events selected by the Ministry of Education to mark the day.
Mysuru has held the Guinness World Record for the largest single-venue yoga session, with 55,506 participants at the International Yoga Day event on June 21, 2017.
Prof Shailendra Mohan, Director of CIIL, told PTI Videos, “Yoga is one of the greatest contributions of Indians to world civilization. Today we are all organising the 11th International Yoga Day at Mysuru Palace, one of the iconic locations selected by the Ministry of Education for conducting the International Yoga Day." Two participants selected by the Ministry of Education also spoke at the venue. Students from JSS Public School, JC Campus, Mysuru, were among those who took part in the session. PTI EZK JR ROH
