New Delhi: Refuting the reports stating that Sonia Gandhi requested the Enforcement Directorate to wrap up questioning as she was recuperating from Covid-19, the Congress party has said that the party president did not make any such request.

“Rather, ED was short of questions. Sonia Gandhi was ready to stay back till 9 pm,” said Congress general secretary and media in-charge Jairam Ramesh.

The Enforcement Directorate on Thursday recorded the statement of Congress president Sonia Gandhi for two hours in the National Herald money laundering case and according to ED officials, the questioning ended for the day on her request as she is recovering from Covid.

The questioning began around 12:30 pm after completion of some formalities like verification of summons and signature in the attendance sheet.
