Thane, Jul 5 (PTI) A Navi Mumbai court on Saturday sentenced seven Bangladeshis to six months in jail for illegal stay in India and directed that they be deported to the neighbouring nation after July 28.
Belapur court addition sessions judge PA Sane convicted Anees Sheikh (32), Pannu Abdul Sheikh (38) Ajijur Sheikh (43), Manzoor Sheikh (34), Farooque Hussain (35), Bilpap Sheikh (32) and Imon Ali (19) under Passport Act and Foreigners Act and also fined them Rs 1000 each.
The seven were caught during a raid in Nerul in Navi Mumbai, additional public prosecutor Yogendra Patil said.
The court has directed that they be deported to Bangladesh after July 28 following completion of the jail term.
So far, 38 Bangladeshis have been deported after being caught for illegal stay within Nerul police station limits, said senior inspector Brahmanand Naikwadi. PTI COR BNM
