One killed, 9 injured in accident in Jharkhand’s Ramgarh

Ramgarh (Jharkhand), Sep 5 (PTI) An auto-rickshaw driver died and nine others sustained injuries in an accident in Jharkhand’s Ramgarh district on Friday, a police officer said.

The incident took place on the Ramgarh–Bokaro main road near Rajrappa police station area when an auto-rickshaw carrying devotees to a temple was hit by a pickup van coming from Gola.

The deceased auto-rickshaw driver was identified as Sajid Rai (50), a resident of Barkakana.

Rajrappa police station officer-in-charge Krishna Kumar said, "The auto-rickshaw carrying devotees to Rajrappa temple collided with a pickup van coming from Gola, resulting the auto-rickshaw to overturn." He added, "The auto-rickshaw driver died at the spot. One of the nine injured passengers, Babita Devi (52), sustained serious injuries, and was referred to RIMS, Ranchi." "All the devotees are residents of Patna and Bhagalpur in Bihar. They are being treated at Sadar Hospital Ramgarh", he added.

"The pickup van driver fled the scene. Police have seized both the vehicles," he said. PTI RPS RPS MNB
