Operation Sindoor ''defining moment'' in India''s military history: TN Guv

Chennai, Jun 22 (PTI) Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi on Sunday described Operation Sindoor as a "defining moment" in India's military history that was achieved through precision, coordination and swift execution.

Ravi presided over a civil reception to honour the Armed Forces personnel for their outstanding success in Operation Sindoor, launched against terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir last month post April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

"Governor described the operation as a defining moment in India's military history, achieved through precision, coordination and swift execution - a mission that not only met its objective but also demonstrated the country's rising indigenous defence capabilities, backed by political clarity, policy decisiveness, and seamless military execution," a Raj Bhavan release said.

Ravi underscored how Prime Minister Narendra Modi's bold leadership marked a clear shift in the country's counter-terror doctrine, making it unequivocal that any terror attack on India would be considered an act of war and met with a firm response, it said.

"This stance, the Governor mentioned, has significantly enhanced the confidence, morale and operational readiness of the armed forces." Reflecting on Tamil Nadu's leading role in national defence, he recalled its contributions from the freedom struggle to continued service in the armed forces, underscoring its deep-rooted commitment to the nation.

Those felicitated by Ravi included Lieutenant General Karanbir Singh Brar, GOC Dakshin Bharat Area, Rear Admiral Satish Shenai, Flag Officer Commanding Tamil Nadu & Puducherry Naval Area and Air Commodore Pradeep Sharma, Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station, Avadi.

Datwinder Singh Saini, Commander Coast Guard Region (East), Prof V Kamakoti, Director, IIT-Madras, Dr. Prakash Chauhan, Director, National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), ISRO and Colonel Rajinder Singh Bhatia, President, Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) were also felicitated by Ravi, the release added.
