Patna: In a shocking incident that has sent shockwaves through the city, prominent businessman and owner of Magadh Hospital, Gopal Khemka, was shot dead by unidentified assailants in the Gandhi Maidan area of Patna on Friday.
According to initial reports, Khemka was attacked as soon as he stepped out of his car near his apartment, close to the Parnas Hotel. The miscreants opened fire at point-blank range, killing him on the spot. The broad daylight murder has triggered panic in the locality and raised serious questions about law and order in the state capital.
Police reached the scene shortly after the incident, took custody of the body, and sent it for post-mortem. A case has been registered and a manhunt has been launched to trace the attackers. The incident is under investigation, and police say they are examining all possible angles.
It is worth noting that this is not the first time the Khemka family has been targeted. Six years ago, Gopal Khemka’s son, Gunjan Khemka, was also murdered by criminals in Vaishali’s industrial area, sparking significant public outcry at the time.
Eyewitnesses report that the attackers seemed to be lying in wait for Khemka’s arrival. The moment he stepped out of his car, they fired multiple shots, leading to his immediate death. The attackers fled the scene before the police could arrive.
The murder of such a high-profile businessman has reignited concerns over the growing audacity of criminals in Patna and the safety of prominent citizens. Police officials have assured that arrests will be made soon and that an intensive search operation is underway to nab the culprits.
