Puducherry LG, CM extend Pongal greetings

Puducherry Jan 14 (PTI) Lt Governor of Puducherry, K Kailashnahan, and Chief Minister N Rangasamy extended greetings to people of Union Territory on the eve of Pongal festival.

In his message, the Lt Governor said the festival of Pongal is a unique identity of the culture of Tamils. It also highlights the pride of agriculture and `we should all remember that the Pongal festival brings to focus the greatness of labour and hard work`.

Lt Governor wished that the festival brought in confidence among the people, rise in thoughts and prosperity. He called for united efforts on the part of the people to realise the goal of `Viksit Bharath 2047` as propounded by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure a developed country.

Greeting particularly the Tamil population all over the world the chief minister said in his message that the festival of Pongal was an important event as it brings to focus the close link of the people with agriculture. Rangasamy wished that the festival brought in joy, prosperity, peace and growth in the lives of the families of all Tamils all over the world.

Speaker R Selvam in his message said that the NDA government headed by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the centre and the Puducherry government have been implementing several progressive measures for the betterment of farmers, farm labourers, livestock owners and the others through various path breaking measures.

Home Minister of Puducherry A Namassivayam in his message said that the NDA government in Puducherry has been adopting several schemes framed by the Centre and appealed to the people to extend their support for the continued and sustained availability of the measures for the betterment of farmers and dairy farmers.

PWD Minister K Lakshminarayanan, Agriculture Minister `Theni` C.Djeacoumar, Civil Supplies Minister P R N Tirumurugan, leaders of various political parties and former Chief Minister V.Narayanasamy were among those who extended their wishes to the people in general and to farmers in particular on the eve of the celebration of Pongal festival.
