Puducherry, Jul 14 (PTI) Puducherry Speaker R Selvam on Monday administered oath of office to three BJP nominated legislators in his chamber in the Assembly.
The three MLA are V Selvam, E Theeppainthan and GNS Rajasekaran from Karaikal region.
Chief Minister N Rangasamy, Home Minister A Namassivayam, Puducherry BJP in charge Nirmal Kumar Surana, Puducherry BJP president V P Ramalingam and legislators were among those who were present.
The previous three nominated members, Ramalingam, K Venkatesan and R B Ashok Babu, quit the post of MLAs on July 27 to concentrate on party work.
The provision in the Union Territories Government Act 1963 to nominate three legislators was first utilised in 1985 by the then Congress Chief Minister M O H Farook and has been continued since then.
The BJP has six elected legislators (including the Speaker) while the AINRC, heading the coalition ministry, has 10 elected members. PTI COR KH
