Jaipur, Mar 15 (PTI) Congress MLA Divya Maderna once again cornered the government of his party in the Rajasthan assembly on Wednesday, accusing it of working with a “revengeful attitude”.

She targeted Urban Development and Housing Department Minister Shanti Dhariwal for his comments in the assembly on Monday on one of the widows of three martyred CRPF personnel who had been agitating in Jaipur to press for their various demands and against BJP's Rajya Sabha MP Kirodi Lal Meena who was leading the agitation.

Maderna alleged that since she had condemned the minister's remarks that he made in the house (on Monday) against widow Manju Jat and tribal leader Meena, forty-four road projects in her constituency were cancelled by the Jodhpur Development Authority (JDA) commissioner overnight.

“I am a girl, I can fight. I am not Draupadi, I do not need an outside Krishna,” she said.

“I would request the CM that this revengeful attitude, because I had opposed and condemned your (Dhariwal's) statement, should stop,” the Congress MLA said.

Maderna said the government has “hurt” Jat and Meena communities by its acts.

Maderna is the daughter of former minister Mahipal Maderna who was a key accused in the notorious Bhanwari Devi abduction and murder case of Jodhpur. Mahipal Maderna was a minister in the Ashok Gehlot cabinet during the earlier Congress government (2008-2013) and was sacked after the case surfaced. He died in October 2021.

Three widows of CRPF personnel who got martyred in the Pulwama attack had been holding an agitation in Jaipur with demands like government job to the brother of the martyred jawan. The government had argued the demand cannot be fulfilled.

The government removed the widows from the dharna site last week and shifted them to their respective native places while Meena was admitted to SMS hospital in Jaipur and on Tuesday he left for Delhi for treatment on his own will. PTI SDA AQS AQS
