The Patanjali brand ambassador had allegedly told that people should consider a government that can ensure petrol for Rs 40 a litre and cooking gas at Rs 300 a cylinder.

During an event in Haryana's Karnal, a reporter questioned Ramdev about his assurance that petrol and LPG costs would come down if people voted the incumbent (Congress) out of power.

The yoga guru, in a 2014 television interview, had said: “I have a study with me that says the basic price of petrol is only Rs 35, on which 50% tax is levied.” “Agar 50% ke jagah 1% tax ho jayga to it’s only practical. Itna arthshastra to humne bhi pad rakkha hai. ,” he had said in the interview.

Angry over the reporter insisting for his comments, Ramdev replied, "Yes, I said it, what can you do? Don't keep asking such questions. Are you my thekedar (contractor) that I should keep answering your questions?"

When the journalist asked the question again, the upset Baba, pointing finger at the journalist, said, "I made the comment. Ab kya kar lega (what will you do)? Just shut up. If you ask again, it will not be good. Don't speak like this, you must be the son of decent parents."
