Ranchi, Jun 22 (PTI) Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri on Sunday said that the administration has decided to impose a complete ban on the use of plastics during the 10-day Rath Yatra fair, starting June 27.

All stall operators and shopkeepers have been instructed to strictly comply with the order and use biodegradable alternatives, such as leaf-based items, bamboo baskets, and paper products, during the fair, he said.

"These measures will not only contribute to environmental conservation but also help maintain cleanliness at the fair," Bhajantri stated.

Ranchi Deputy Commissioner, DIG-cum-SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha, and other senior officials reviewed the preparedness and security arrangements for the Rath Yatra fair at Jagannathpur in Dhurwa.

Sinha stated that stringent security measures have been implemented, including the installation of watchtowers and CCTV cameras within the fair premises.

He added that magistrates and police officers will be deployed at all key locations.

The deputy commissioner confirmed that adequate arrangements have been made for electricity supply, mobile toilets, drinking water, fire tenders, and ambulances. PTI SAN RG
