Roys transferred the ownership of RRPR Holding to Adani Group against an unpaid loan of over Rs 400 crore on Monday.

The announcement was made by NDTV Group President Suparna Singh in an internal email to NDTV staff.

"Ravish has resigned from NDTV and the company has agreed to his request for his resignation to be effective immediately," Singh wrote in the note.

Singh said that few journalists have impacted people as much as Ravish. This reflects in the immense feedback about him; in the crowds he draws everywhere; in the prestigious awards and recognition he has received, within India and internationally; and in his daily reports which champion the right and needs of those who are under-served.

"Ravish has been an integral part of NDTV for decades; his contribution has been immense, and we know he will be hugely successful as he embarks on a new beginning," she added.

On October 6, BestMediaInfo.com had reported that Nagma Seher and Nidhi Kulpati were promoted to the Managing Editor role, a position held by Ravish Kumar.

Kumar has twice been conferred with Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Award for the Best Journalist of the Year and became the fifth Indian journalist to receive the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 2019.
