Mumbai, Jul 11 (PTI) A court here on Friday denied bail to Ketan Kadam, an alleged middleman held in the Rs 65 crore Mithi river desilting contract scam.

His plea was rejected by additional sessions judge N G Shukla. The reasoned order has not been made available as yet.

The Mumbai police's Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has filed a case against 13 persons, including contractors and civic officials. Kadam and one more middleman Jay Joshi were arrested, though the latter is now out on bail.

As per police, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials tailored the tender for the desilting contract to benefit a particular supplier of machinery. Further, the contractors generated fraudulent bills for transporting sludge out of Mumbai, leaving the civic body with a loss of more than Rs 65.54 crore.

Among others, police have questioned Bollywood actor Dino Morea in connection with the case. PTI AVI BNM
