New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) winning candidate, from Ludhiana West assembly seat, Sanjeev Arora, is likely to be inducted as a Cabinet Minister in the Bhagwant Singh Mann government.
Party sources said that Arora is likely to be given the housing portfolio.
At present, Sahnewal legislator Hardeep Singh Mundian holds the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
With his victory, Arora will have to resign from his Rajya Sabha seat.
There was speculation that AAP Convenor Arvind Kejriwal would replace Arora in the upper house. But dismissing the rumours, Kejriwal on Monday said he would not go to the Rajya Sabha.
"Many times I have been sent to the Rajya Sabha. I want to tell you I am not going to the Rajya Sabha. The political affairs committee of the party will decide whom to nominate," he told reporters.
It is said that a prominent businessman from Ludhiana, who had backed the AAP in the by-elections, might be a sent to the Rajya Sabha.
AAP candidate Sanjeev Arora registered a victory in a fierce electoral fight against his nearest rival and Congress candidate Bharat Bhushan Ashu by a margin of 10,637 votes.
