Patna: Security was beefed up at the Jayaprakash Narayan International (JPNI) Airport in Patna on Saturday, after authorities received a bomb threat via email, officials said on Saturday.

The threat, however, turned out to be non-specific and a hoax, they said.

“A bomb threat was received on the airport director's email ID at 9 pm on Friday. Soon after this, a meeting of the Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) was convened... The committee declared the threat as non-specific,” a statement issued by the airport said on Saturday.

SP (Patna Central) Diksha told PTI that security at the airport has been tightened following the development.

“The threat turned out to be non-specific and a hoax. We are trying to trace the IP address to find out the sender of the email,” the officer said.

A case has been registered by the police in this regard, she added.
