Mumbai, Jun 28 (PTI) Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray has asked his party workers to burn the government resolution (GR) on Hindi language in state schools on June 29, a day before the Maharashtra legislature's Monsoon Session is set to begin.
Thackeray will be present when the copies of the GR are burnt in south Mumbai, said party vibhag pramukh (area chief) Santosh Shinde.
On June 17, the Maharashtra government issued a GR making Hindi "generally" the third language, and not mandatory, for students of Classes 1 to 5 studying in English and Marathi medium schools.
The Sena (UBT) has been opposing the three-language formula and "imposition" of Hindi on students. PTI PR BNM NSK
