Seven held, 86 kg opium seized in raid in Assam

Rangia, Dec 14 (PTI) Seven people were arrested and 86 kg of opium was seized during a search operation at a house in Assam’s Kamrup district on Sunday, a police officer said.

He said the raid in Udiana village was based on specific information.

During the operation, seven people, including the owner of the house, were apprehended.

The house owner was earlier arrested in a similar drug-related case, the officer said.

During the raid, 86 kg opium, Rs 25,400 in cash and an electronic weighing machine were seized, he said.

“The accused have been arrested under the NDPS Act,” he added. PTI CORR SSG RBT
