Ranchi, Dec 17 (PTI) Jharkhand will soon offer comprehensive treatment for 21 critical diseases at select government and private hospitals in the state, an official said on Wednesday.
The services will be provided at four major government hospitals – Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) and Sadar Hospital in Ranchi, Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College and Hospital in Dhanbad, and MGM Medical College in Jamshedpur, he said.
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Additional Chief Secretary of the Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Department Ajoy Kumar Singh on Tuesday evening, according to an official release.
Facilities for the treatment of serious illnesses will also be extended to four private hospitals in the state, it said.
“All necessary facilities will be provided to hospitals that come forward for treating serious illnesses. Treatment packages for various diseases have already been finalised,” Singh said.
He said patients will no longer need to travel outside Jharkhand for treatment of critical ailments.
Diseases covered under the scheme include all types of cancer, kidney transplant, liver-related diseases, acid attack injuries, thalassaemia, blood dyscrasia, bone marrow transplant, plastic surgery, retinal detachment, brain haemorrhage and others, the release said.
Singh said treatment for these diseases will be provided under the Mukhya Mantri Abua Swasthya Suraksha Yojana, under which fixed packages are being determined to ensure hassle-free treatment.
He also directed officials concerned to ensure comprehensive facilities for the treatment of sickle cell anaemia at Sadar Hospital, Ranchi.
An MoU will be signed with CMC Vellore soon to facilitate bone marrow transplant services in Ranchi, Singh added. PTI SAN RBT
