Sikkim: Man missing after falling into Teesta river

Gangtok, Sep 20 (PTI) A person went missing after being swept away by the swelling Teesta river in Rangpo in Sikkim's Pakyong district, police said.

He was at the riverbank to attend a cremation, and slipped into the river, they said.

Despite efforts by those present at the site to rescue him, the strong currents swept him away, they added.

Police said a search is underway for the missing man.

The victim's identity is yet to be ascertained, they said. PTI CORR SOM
