Hyderabad, Jul 14 (PTI) The Telangana Jagruthi, headed by BRS MLC K Kavitha, on Monday complained to the state women's commission against suspended Congress MLC Teenmar Mallanna over his 'objectionable' comments about her.

Jagruthi's women leaders submitted a memorandum to the commission's members. They explained that Mallanna continued to "abuse" Kavitha instead of apologising to her, a release issued by the Telangana Jagruthi said.

Meanwhile, Mallanna, whose original name is Ch Naveen Kumar, met state Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy and sought action over the "attack" on his office by the Jagruthi members on Sunday.

Mallanna was elected to the Legislative Council as a Congress nominee in 2024. However, he was suspended from the party earlier this year over alleged anti-party activities.

A Congress source on Sunday said Mallanna should be called an Independent MLC.

A personal security officer of Mallanna on Sunday fired in the air to disperse a group of protesters affiliated with Telangana Jagruthi, who "attacked" his office at Medipally here.

The Telangana Jagruthi cadre allegedly attacked Mallanna's office in protest against certain "derogatory" remarks he made on Kavitha. Mallanna was present in the office when it was stormed.

Based on the complaint and counter-complaint received from both parties, a case was registered against Mallanna and Kavitha and others under sections of the BNS, police said on Sunday. In both cases, an investigation has been taken up by the police.

Mallanna on Sunday alleged that an attempt was made on his life at the instigation of Kavitha. PTI SJR SJR KH
