Truck mows down 2 vegetable vendors in Rajasthan’s Jaipur

Jaipur, Jul 7 (PTI) Two vegetable vendors were killed when a speeding truck rammed into people standing by the roadside, police said on Sunday.

According to police, the incident occurred on Saturday night when the vendors were transporting a consignment that had halted for repairing a punctured tyre on their vehicle.

It was then that an out-of-control truck coming from Agra hit them, police said.

Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Ram Sahay of Lakhanpur police station said that the victims were identified as Vishnu Kumar and Rajan Singh, both residents of Kirawali in Uttar Pradesh's Agra district.

Police said Vishnu Kumar died on the spot, while Rajan Singh, who was critically injured, was rushed to RBM Hospital, where he succumbed during treatment.

He said both bodies were kept in the hospital mortuary and handed over to their families after the post-mortem on Sunday.
