Two heroin suppliers arrested from Samba in Jammu & Kashmir

Jammu: Two suspected heroin suppliers were arrested and contraband worth Rs 1.10 lakh seized from them in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district on Tuesday, a senior police officer said.

Mushtaq Ali alias "Kaka" of Bari Brahmana and Md Arif alias "Billa" of Ramkot-Kathua were arrested during checking along the Jammu-Pathankot Highway, Senior Superintendent of Police (Samba) Benam Tosh said.

Calling the duo's arrest a "big catch", the officer said the police had been looking for them. Billa and Kaka were the top smugglers-cum-suppliers of heroin, he said.

"They used to smuggle Pakistan-made heroin from Punjab and used to supply it to the youth in Marheen, Hiranagar, Kathua, Samba, Sarore, Bishnah, RS Pura and many other areas of Jammu province," the officer said.

The police also seized Rs 24,420 from the duo, Tosh said, adding that a case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act had been registered.
