Two killed in lightning strike in MP's Agar Malwa

Agar Malwa (MP), Jun 26 (PTI) Two men were killed and as many others seriously injured on Thursday after lightning struck the tree under which they were standing during rains at a village in Agar Malwa district of Madhya Pradesh, police said.

The incident occurred around 5 pm near Lolki village, located about 25 km from the district headquarters, an official said.

The four men were engaged in the activity of sowing soybean using a tractor in a field. But when it started raining, the group sought shelter under a nearby tree, station house officer Kesar Rajput of Susner police station told reporters.

However, soon afterwards, lightning struck the tree, in which Laxman (36) and Kamal (35), were killed on the spot, he said.

Two others - Maan Singh and Vishall Patidar sustained serious injuries and were taken to the district hospital in Agar for treatment, he said, adding that all the victims were locals.

The bodies of the deceased were handed over to their families after post-mortem, he said. PTI COR LAL NP
