Two 'live' cartridges found in Bengaluru-bound man's bag at Jabalpur airport; arrested

Jabalpur, Jul 15 (PTI) A passenger heading to Bengaluru was arrested after he was found carrying two 'live' cartridges in his bag at the Dumna Airport in Jabalpur on Tuesday, a police official said.

The 27-year-old passenger, Atiq Ahmed, is a resident of Shahdol district of Madhya Pradesh and was scheduled to board an IndiGo flight to Bengaluru, Khamaria police station in-charge Sarojani Toppo told PTI.

During security check at the Jabalpur airport, two 'live' cartridges were found in Ahmed's bag and he was subsequently placed under arrest, she said.

An FIR was registered against the man under relevant sections of the Arms Act, the official said.

The man was being interrogated to find out how he got the cartridges and what was the motive behind carrying them, she added. PTI COR MAS RSY
