Bareilly (UP), Jun 30 (PTI) Two young men, on their way to attend a relative’s wedding, were killed in an accident in Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly, police said on Monday.

According to officials, the victims — Amarpal (20), son of Harpal, and Subhash (19), son of Rakshpal — both residents of the Sarayu village under Bhurmoa police station limits, were cousins and were heading to the Bagarapur village in Budaun district’s Kunwargaon area to attend the wedding of their relative Akhilesh on Sunday night.

Additional Superintendent of Police (South) Anshika Verma said that the two were riding a motorcycle when it was hit by an unidentified vehicle, leaving them critically injured.

Passersby immediately alerted the police, who rushed to the scene and transported the victims to the district hospital, where doctors declared them dead on arrival.

The joyous atmosphere of the wedding turned into mourning, with distraught family members struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss.

Police have launched an investigation to trace the unidentified vehicle involved in the accident. The bodies have been sent for postmortem, and further legal proceedings are underway, officials said. PTI COR ABN ABN MNK MNK
