Sambhal (UP), Jul 15 (PTI) The hearing in a case related to alleged unauthorised construction of a house by Samajwadi Party's Sambhal MP Ziaur Rahman Barq was on Tuesday deferred to July 22 as lawyers abstained from judicial work.
The case pertains to the construction in Deepa Sarai locality without obtaining an approved map.
A notice was issued to the MP by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of the regulated area on December 5 last year, followed by several reminders, officials said.
According to SDM Vikas Chandra, Barq was given multiple opportunities to submit a revised building map after objections were raised.
On the last hearing dated July 8, the MP was reportedly provided with the map containing necessary corrections. However, he claimed he had not received it - a response the court found unsatisfactory.
Taking cognisance of the matter, the SDM court had imposed a penalty of Rs 1,000 on the MP. The amount has since been deposited, the SDM confirmed.
Talking to reporters, SDM Chandra said although hearing was scheduled for Tuesday, it could not be held due to a call by the local Bar Association to abstain from judicial work.
As a result, the next hearing in the matter will now be held on July 22.
Chandra added that compliance with building regulations is mandatory for all, regardless of position, and the case will proceed accordingly. PTI COR ABN ZMN
