Bhopal, Jun 20 (PTI) United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) India representative Cynthia McCaffrey on Friday met Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav here and appreciated his leadership in effectively implementing welfare programmes for women and kids in the state.
The state is committed towards welfare of children and is implementing a host of initiatives for them and also women like Devi Ahilya Empowerment Mission and cash support for adolescent girls as part of the Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) programme under Yadav's guidance, she said.
The CM is also committed to the roll out of national Community-based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) and bringing focus on undernutrition, McCaffrey stated after meeting Yadav at his official residence in Bhopal.
The chief minister reaffirmed his government's resolve to ensure welfare of each and every child in the state.
Yadav said the state administration wants to reach out to each and every person, including those from vulnerable sections of society.
The state is committed towards doing more for addressing undernutrition and will be going on mission mode to reach out to children suffering from severe acute malnutrition armed with additional support, he maintained.
"It is my priority. We will engage departments of women and children and panchayati raj in addressing the challenge of undernutrition among children in the state," the CM insisted.
During the meeting, McCaffrey also handed over spatial plans developed by students of the School of Planning and Architecture with the support of UNICEF.
