UP government to host Skill Olympic for youths on July 15 & 16

Lucknow, Jul 12 (PTI) The Uttar Pradesh government is set to host a Skill Olympic in Lucknow on July 15 and 16 on the occasion of World Youth Skills Day, an official statement said on Saturday.

The event, held under the aegis of Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission, aims to provide a platform for youth-led innovations, particularly those based on modern technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, the statement said.

The World Youth Skills Day is celebrated annually on July 15.

Mission Director Pulkit Khare said, "Selected trainees from training centres operating in every district will participate in the Olympic to showcase their projects, models, applications or tech-based solutions. This will not only give the youth technological recognition, but also help position them as an industry-ready workforce," he said.

The Skill Olympic will feature exhibitions of innovations in Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Machine Learning, drone technology, health technology, smart agriculture, and digital designing. The best innovations will be specially awarded.

The event will also see the participation of industry representatives, start-up incubators, investors and academicians.

A Yuva Kaushal Chaupal (group meeting) will also be held.

During this meeting, 11 selected individuals will be felicitated as Kaushal Youth Icons and they will share inspiring stories of how skill development enabled them to launch beauty parlours, digital studios, cafes, hotel jobs and start-ups.

A Kaushal Mela will also be held, showcasing a blend of industry, talent and culture.

More than 100 stalls will be set up for live demonstrations of handicrafts, healthcare products, electronics, chikankari and textile goods. Soft skills workshops will cover topics such as interview preparation, spoken English, resume writing, and personality grooming. A dedicated food zone will feature regional flavours such as Lucknow's bhelpuri, Ayodhya's vinegar-based dishes, Muzaffarnagar's kachoris, Pratapgarh's amla, and Agra's petha, the statement said.
