Sambhal: A man was arrested for allegedly trying to convert a woman to Islam here, police said on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old Hindu woman told police that the man, Zaid, introduced himself as Anurag, however, she found out his real identity after stumbling upon his Aadhaar card.
The complainant has accused Zaid of exploitation, taking money from her and trying to convert her to Islam, Additional Superintendent of Police Shrish Chandra said.
An FIR under sections 419 (cheating), 420 (fraud), 370 (trafficking), 406 (breach of trust), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against Zaid at the Baniather police station on Tuesday, police said.
