Hyderabad: Voting for Congress is the same as voting for the ruling BRS and vice versa, Union Minister and newly-appointed president of the Telangana BJP G Kishan Reddy said on Thursday.
Addressing a press conference here jointly with Bandi Sanjay Kumar whom he replaced as state BJP president two days ago, Kishan Reddy said a false campaign is being conducted against the BJP on social media.
The BJP would like to come to power in the Assembly elections scheduled to be held later this year by defeating the ruling BRS, he said.
The Congress and BRS have an electoral alliance and have shared power in the past but the BJP never had any understanding with BRS, he pointed out, and said that the BJP's top leaders, including PM Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and JP Nadda, have spoken against the "family rule" of BRS.
He observed that MLAs who were elected on the 'hand' symbol (of Congress) have switched over to the BRS and become ministers and now they are criticising the BJP.
It's the BRS and Congress that have had seat adjustments, shared ministerial berths and switched to the other side after being elected on one party's ticket, he alleged.
"In this state, voting for Congress is voting for BRS. Voting for BRS is voting for Congress. They are like heads and tails of the same coin. Their DNA is the same. See their history. The BJP never had any truck with Congress or BRS. We will not do so in future as well," Reddy said.
The BJP aims to assume power in the upcoming elections by dislodging BRS from power, he said.
Referring to the BRS highlighting the 'Telangana model' of governance and development, he asked sardonically whether it was "family rule", CM not coming to the Secretariat for nine years, and not providing representation to women in Cabinet for five years that was being termed the 'Telangana model'.
