Jaipur, Jul 1 (PTI) A 36-year-old woman was brutally killed by her ex-boyfriend with a sword in broad daylight in Rajasthan's Banswara district on Tuesday, police said.
The incident that took place in Kalinjara town was captured on CCTV, prompting police to launch a manhunt for the accused, Mahipal Bagora, who fled the scene after attacking Leela Tabiyar.
The footage captured the accused arriving in a car and striking Tabiyar multiple times with the sword. He then fled the scene on foot, abandoning the vehicle nearby, police said.
According to police, passersby rushed her to the district hospital, where she died during treatment. Tabiyar worked as a teacher and was a native of the district.
"Her ex-lover Mahipal Bagora attacked her with a sword. We have impounded the car used by the accused and are analysing CCTV footage to identify and locate him," Banswara Superintendent of Police Harsh Vardhan said.
Additional Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh visited the hospital and ensured the body was shifted to the mortuary for post-mortem.
Police said multiple teams have been formed and footage from surrounding areas is being examined. A case has been registered at Kalinjara police station and further investigation is underway. PTI AG OZ OZ
