Bengaluru, Jul 8 (PTI) Senior BJP Leader Yediyurappa on Tuesday alleged that the Congress government in Karnataka has become "bankrupt", and demanded that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar disclose the state's financial conditions.
The former Chief Minister claimed that development had stalled due to lack of fund releases.
"Look at any programmes or schemes of this government, they are only for publicity, no honest efforts have been made to implement them properly. We have been repeatedly saying that this government is bankrupt," Yediyurappa said.
Addressing reporters here, he said, "I demand that the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister admit the facts, and release the facts about the financial condition of the state." He reiterated that the government has gone bankrupt leading to a halt in developmental works as funds are not being released.
He claimed that payments under Gruha Lakshmi scheme (Rs 2,000 monthly assistance to woman head of family) have not been disbursed for the last three months.
He also alleged that lorry owners, who transport the essentials under the state government’s Public Distribution Scheme (PDS), went on strike to compel the government to clear their dues amounting to about Rs 250 crore. PTI KSU ROH
