YSRCP MP lodged in Rajamahendravaram central prison

Rajamahendravaram (Andhra Pradesh), Jul 21 (PTI) Rajampet MP PV Midhun Reddy has been lodged in the central prison here, a senior official said on Monday.

Reddy, a key YSRCP leader, was arrested on July 19 by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged Rs 3,200-crore liquor scam during the erstwhile YSRCP government.

"At 8.50 pm on July 20, remand prisoner number 4196, PV Midhun Reddy, son of Peddireddi Ramachandra Reddy, entered Rajamahendravaram Central Prison," Rahul, the superintendent, said in an official press release.

A local court remanded him to judicial custody until August 1.

Rahul said Reddy was booked by the CID in Mangalagiri under IPC Sections 420, 409, 384, 201, and 120B read with Sections 34 and 37. He was also charged under Sections 7, 7A, 8, 12, 13(1)(b), and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

Rahul added that Reddy underwent a medical examination by the jail medical officer and was found to be normal.

He was later shifted to a barrack and is currently in good health. PTI STH SSK
