Birmingham: India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and elected to bat against Australia in their preliminary round group A match of the Commonwealth Games here on Friday.

India have handed a debut to pacer Meghna Singh.

A women's cricket tournament is being held at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, during July and August 2022.

It is cricket's first inclusion in the Commonwealth Games since a List A men's tournament was held at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
